An interview with Reese of @Double3xposure
Tell us about the origin of Double3xposure.
One day my twin sister and I were talking about how we wanted to start posting outfit pictures together on Instagram. We decided on the name double3xposure because double exposure is exposing two images and we thought that represented myself and Molly as twins. She then went away to a different university so I just decided to post pictures of my own outfits everyday and I haven't stopped haha. I love that I get to help inspire people everyday.
Give us the lowdown on your personal style.
I would say I don't have a specific personal style. My style is never the same. Some days it is girly and some days it is more masculine. I don't ever want to limit myself to one style because I like being able to change what I wear on the daily and have it still feel like "me."
You've cultivated a large and engaged following-- what have been the most successful tactics get you there?
This is the most annoying answer but it is so, so true: be consistent. I make sure I post a picture every single day. You have to just do it. There are so many people out there who want to start a blog but the difference between a successful and unsuccessful blog is that the person who actually starts the blog and puts themselves out there is going to be successful over the person who just talks about starting a blog. My number one answer is to just do it. Start the blog or Instagram you have always wanted to start. Like my dad always says: the difference between an artist and someone who isn't an artist is that artists make art. If you make art you're an artist. If you don't then you're not. You've just got to do what you want to do and see what happens.
Have you collaborated with brands? If so, what have been some of your favorite brand collaborations?
Oh this is hard, I love all the brands I have collaborated with! I guess my favorite collaboration was with Refinery29. They asked me to help them create a story on how to reinvent a bag. It was such an honor to work with them.
Which style bloggers on Instagram do you most look up to and why?
Courtney Trop from @alwaysjudging is one of my favorite bloggers. I find so much inspiration from her blog and Instagram. She carefully selects the people she collaborates with and she just seems like she knows exactly what she is doing and what she wants and that is so inspiring, Marta Cygan from @lifeofboheme takes the prettiest photos and styles the most perfect articles of clothing. Her Instagram gives off such warm relaxed vibes and I love that. @adenorah is the cutest French blogger. She lives in vintage Levis and styles them differently everyday and she always looks amazing. She also collaborates with really cool brands and has a beautiful flat in Paris. I also love @pandorasykes. I am so inspired by her because she is 100% herself and she doesn't conform to what most bloggers do. She dresses in colors and smiles in all of her photos and it's so refreshing to see someone show who they really are.
