6 Instagram-Worthy Festivals That Aren't Coachella

Enough with Coachella Already

Everyone loves festivals. Remember when the (old, cool) president threw one in his yard? And while we love these celebrations of music, art, fashion, and debauchery as much as the next guy, we just don’t know if we can justify cross-country airfare and the whole Coachella hassle… plus the whole internet turns into that same photo of a ferris wheel. Zero disrespect to Coachella, we’re just curious what other options are out there. Here’s a look at 6 Instagram-worthy festivals you can hit instead:

Treefort Music Festival: Boise, ID

Headliners: Mac Demarco and Angel Olsen

The shot to capture: Any/all of the delightful graphic design elements that adorn this jewel of a fest. Also relevant, something called Rigsketball, where band members appear to play basketball in the middle of a city street…

Bumbershoot: Seattle, WA

Headliners: TBD

The shot to capture: The iconic space needle peeking out above the festival stage. Hard to top that.

Snowglobe Music Festival: Lake Tahoe, CA

Headliners: TBD

The Shot to Capture: Ring in the New Year at the west coast’s biggest, and coldest, NYE celebration.  A crowd of festival goers in hats and gloves instead of bikini tops is pretty amusing.

Bunbury Festival: Cincinnati, OH

Headliners: Wiz Khalifa, Muse, and The Shins to name a few.

The shot to capture: Hands up with a local brew. Miller Lite (which is Ohio brewed) hosts this festival, but Cincinnati has grown into a serious beer town hosting craft breweries like Rhinegeist and Urban Artifact.

Forecastle Fest: Louisville, KY

Headliners: Too many to list… Weezer. Run the Jewels. Cage the Elephant. Phantogram…. on and on.

The Shot to Capture: Nestled in the heart of Bourbon country right on the riverfront in Louisville,  the latticework of the Big Four bridge pops up in almost every shot.

Mysteryland: Bethel Woods, NY

Headliners:  G-Eazy, LCD Soundsystem and Major Lazer.

The Shot to Capture: You get to camp on the original Woodstock grounds for this one. So there’s plenty a famous shot to recreate.
