We get it-- you're hip! You stood in line for an hour for that rainbow bagel that tastes exactly like a normal bagel, just so you could take a photo to post on Instagram. The viral food trends started back in 2013 with the cronut, and since then food entrepreneurs everywhere have been trying to create "Instagrammable" foods. Here are 7 food trends that have been totally overdone...
1. Avocado Toast
It's delicious, I agree, but you can stop posting it on your Instagram now.
2. Rainbow bagels
Do these even taste good? I'm not sure. But I sure as hell don't think a few hundred likes on social media is worth waiting in line for several hours.
3. Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino
Do adults even drink frappuccinos? No? Just tweens.
4. Cloud Eggs
These are actually centuries old, so you can stop acting like they're innovative.
5. Black Tap Milkshakes
I'll admit-- I once tried to go to Black Tap for one of these famous milkshakes. But I quickly decided that it was not worth waiting in a 2 hour line to buy a gigantic sugar bomb that I inevitably wouldn't finish.
6. Cookie Cups
Just dip your cookies in the dadgum milk! Why make it harder than it needs to be?
7. Smoothie Bowls
Just admit it, you spent more time arranging those toppings and taking the photo than you did eating the actual thing.
