Free Tools: Pixlr
What is it:
Pixlr is a free online image editing platform. Pixlr offers two options: Pixlr Express and Pixlr Editor. Express is great for beginners and those looking for base-level photo editing capabilities, whereas Editor has a more robust selection of tools and resembles a pared down Adobe Photoshop.
Cheaper/easier/quicker alternative to:
Adobe Photoshop, Fotor, Ribbet.
Why you should use it:
Pixlr Express is perfect for quick fixes, filters, and overlays-- frankly, nothing really sets it apart from any other basic web-based photo editing application. However, Pixlr Editor is a surprisingly robust and powerful online editor which makes it the perfect (free) alternative for someone who does not have access to a desktop editor like Photoshop. There is a bit of a learning curve for beginners but the Pixlr Tutorials are straightforward and cover all of the basic processes. You can also save your files online which makes for a more flexible workflow than other online editing tools.
Pixlr just added a pack of pattern overlays that allow you to create cool textures or make your own double exposed photo.
